NeedToMeet has shut down: a replacement that works today
If you followed a NeedToMeet link and landed on a page about buying the company, your browser is fine. needtomeet.com stopped running polls. Opening it on August 31, 2026 gives a page headed "NeedToMeet is for Sale", and the line under it reads "It's closed for now, and it's for sale." A second panel adds that the domain is for sale as well.
This page is for the person who needs a working link in the next few minutes, not a product tour. It records what the site shows today, what became of old poll links, and how to rebuild the same poll on Best Day To Meet, which asks nobody to sign up and is free for the parts you are about to use. Every NeedToMeet detail below was read off the live site during this session.

What needtomeet.com shows today
The homepage is a sale prospectus. Above the fold it says NeedToMeet "has served loyal users from around the world since 2015" and that "millions of people have attended a meeting using a NeedToMeet poll". Below that, the page lists what a buyer would get: all software source code for the web app, built on the CodeIgniter framework with Fuel CMS; GitHub repositories including an iOS app and an Android app marked "Deprecated"; the domains needtomeet.com, needtomeet.io and needtomeet.app; business accounts at Apple, Braintree, Amazon Web Services, Mailgun, ZenDesk and others, with a note that some "need reopened or configured"; and a user database summarised as "Subscribers: 115k +" and "Meeting Attendees: 2 Million +".
The only interactive part left is a contact form for acquisition enquiries, guarded by an arithmetic question, under the heading "Interested? Let's Talk." The paragraph above it ends with "Sorry, we can't respond to any other requests", so there is no support queue behind it. The two sister domains are no help either: needtomeet.io did not resolve at all when we tried it, and needtomeet.app did not answer within a minute.
If you ever registered an account there, note what the listing includes: the user database, alongside "company domain emails". The address you signed up with is one of the assets on offer.
Your old poll links now return a 404
Every path under the domain other than the sale page returns an HTTP 404. The error page keeps the "NeedToMeet is for Sale" heading and adds a line aimed squarely at the person who just clicked a link from a calendar invite: "Feeling confused, frustrated or disappointed? It's not you. It's us." The old pricing page is gone the same way.
In practice that means the votes people already cast are not readable and cannot be exported. If the link is pinned in a group chat, a wiki, or a recurring invite, replace it rather than repost it, because everyone who clicks it gets the page above and assumes they broke something. Nothing there tells them where to go instead.
Picking the day again, without an account
Best Day To Meet does the day-level version of the job NeedToMeet described for itself: its own homepage copy talked about ending "lengthy email chains, time zone conflicts, and phone tag". You give a range of dates, everyone taps the days they can make, and each date shows its vote count. There is no grid of 15-minute cells to paint, because most group plans fail on which day, not which hour.
Creating one takes two screens. The first asks for a name and a date range. The second is optional: which days count (weekdays, weekends, public holidays for your country), a voting deadline, and a description. Nobody signs in, including you.

Rebuilding the poll takes about a minute
- Open the homepage and name the Event the way people will recognise it in a group chat.
- Set the first and last day of the window you are choosing between. Keep the Calendar mode selected so voters mark every day they can make.
- On the second screen, turn weekends on or off, add public holidays for your country, and set a voting deadline if you want voting to close on its own.
- Share the short link. Participants open it, type a name, and tap dates. No app, no sign-in, no code to keep.
- When the votes settle, pick the final date in the Host's wrap-up panel or close voting early. Everyone sees the result and can add it to their calendar.
The Host controls sit on the same page as the calendar: a final-date selector listing each date with its vote count, and a "Close voting now" button that stops new votes without waiting for the deadline.
When something else fits better
A page like this should say where it is the wrong answer. Frequently asked questions
Is NeedToMeet gone for good?
Its homepage says "It's closed for now, and it's for sale", so the owner is not calling it permanent. Until somebody buys it and turns it back on, nothing can be created or voted on there.
Can I get the votes from my old NeedToMeet poll?
Not from the site. Old poll addresses return a 404, and no export or archive is offered on the page that replaced them. Rebuilding the poll elsewhere is faster than waiting.
What happened to the NeedToMeet apps?
The sale listing includes source code for an iOS app and an Android app it marks "Deprecated", plus Apple and Google Play accounts, some of which the page says "need reopened or configured".
Is Best Day To Meet free?
The parts in the steps above are free: creating an Event, sharing the link, voting, holidays, deadlines, and the calendar export of the final date. Pro adds Date Options mode, multi-day Events, the comment feed, and removing our badge, at $9 a month or $5 once for a single Event.
Does anyone need an account to vote?
No. Voters open the link, type a name, and tap the days they can make. An account is optional for a Host who wants their Events to follow them across devices.
Can we still choose a time, not just a day?
Yes, time slots can be added to a day when you set the Event up. The default flow is day-first, which is why it suits dinners, trips, and board meetings better than hour-by-hour grids.
